A Christmas Carol Readers Theater

Come kick off the holiday season with a Virtual Reading of A Christmas Carol! We will perform live from the comfort of our own homes. We will be having two performances; a junior show for ages 8-18 (still in high school) and an adult show for ages 18-102. We will be assigning adults to the children’s parts for the adult show. Participants are welcome to dress up for their part to get into the spirit of it! The participants will meet together on Zoom and we will stream it for non-participants to watch (streaming information will be announced at a later date). It will be a fun evening for the whole family!

Junior Readers Theater – Thursday, December 10th at 7 pm
Adult Readers Theater – Friday, December 11th at 7 pm

Participant Information

  • Participants can sign up below through December 4th.
  • Our theater and junior theater chairs will then assign the parts and email you the script and Zoom information.
  • Everyone who signs up will be assigned a role.
  • Please read through your part and make sure you are familiar with it.
  • Please join the Zoom meeting on time or your role may be reassigned.

Matilda Jr – Postponed

Auditions for Matilda Jr. will beheld Tuesday, August 11 and Thursday, August 13 from 5-9 PM; with callbacks on Saturday August 15, by invitation. Auditions will be held at the Syracuse Community Center, 1912 West 1900 South in Syracuse. In an effort to limit the wait time, please sign up for an audition time.  Walk-ins will be welcome, but priority will be given to those with a scheduled audition time.

Please be prepared to sing a short excerpt (about 30 seconds) from a Broadway Musical in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided.  A speaker will also be provided for cell phone backing tracks. In addition to singing for your audition, please recite one of the monologues linked below.  Memorization and accents are highly encouraged! Please bring your completed forms and a headshot, if available.

We will be following all social distancing guidelines. We will be limiting the number of people in the community center. You may be asked to wait in your car until it is your turn. Masks are strongly encouraged.

Matilda Jr. will be directed by Jake Swensen with music direction by Jordan Martineau and choreography by Chatana Krebs.

Participation is open to children ages 7-17. There is a $50 participation fee. The cast size will be limited to ensure social distancing requirements can be met.

There will be 4 performances November 19-21.
